Trivia time! This month’s topic is oil changes

Oil-change-175You should change your oil every 3,000 miles because:
A. We love seeing you!
B. Without oil, the metal-on-metal friction creates so much heat that eventually the surfaces weld themselves together and the engine seizes.
C. You want to relax in our comfy waiting room.
D. You’ve had too much togetherness over the holidays and you just want some peace and quiet.

Answer: While it’s true that we do enjoy seeing the smiling faces of our loyal clients, the real reason you should change your oil regularly is to preserve and protect your engine. It’s one of the most important and most cost-effective ways to maintain your vehicle. Oil lubricates and cools the moving parts of your engine, and it carries dirt and metal particles to the oil filter—and away from where they can damage your engine’s internal parts. Over time, heat from the engine breaks it down, and the longer it’s in the engine, the dirtier it comes. It can even become gummy or watery, preventing it from lubricating properly. Having the oil changed removes the old, dirty fluid and replaces it with clean oil that can properly protect your engine.
